Hypocaust
Heating system under the floor. From a fireplace set in an adjacent room, hot air is sent in an interstice situated between the slab of the room and the ground. Then it is evacuated through hollow bricks (tubuli) set up in the walls.

Latin word used in archaeology for a group of buildings in a Roman city.
